Riding the Train as Daylight Perishes – Poem

I peer into another world
As the sun descends
The darkness of the night
Swallows the world

Only dim lights gleam
In the night
But no matter how many of these dim lights there are
It can only be a shallow imitation
Of the Daylight

The train enters a tunnel
All light is swallowed by the night
I see a reflection of myself
On the glass
The window, now a mirror

No matter how much I try to peer into it
I only see…

I smile at my reflection and it smiles back
